India Beckons delights in arranging tours that are comfortable and stylish, but which take you to the most intimate and exciting places along the way. We have toured all over Rajasthan, a desert state dotted with palace hotels and bustling towns. Tours have included elephant rides, mirrored halls, bustling bazaars and even a hot air balloon ride. We have explored Tamil Nadu, and visited the old temples there, redolent of ancient Hindu culture and ritual. The warm, sultry air is refreshed by the sea breezes on the coast. We have wandered in the spice plantations and tea gardens in the beautiful Cardamom Hills of Kerala, before lazing on rice boats, floating through palm fringed backwaters, then explored the harbour town of Kochi with its chinese fishing nets, spice markets and Kathkali dance tradition. We have travelled through the northwestern desert state of Gujarat in the same easy style, visiting tiny embroiderer's villages, climbing a holy hill and then staying in Ahmedabad, a bustling Indian city. We plan fascinating cruises from Kolkata up the Hooghly river, then either on the toy train up to Darjeeling and Sikkim, or south to the temple towns of Orissa and the famous Sun Temple in Konark. We are considering a lazy cruise up the mighty Brahmaputra in Assam in India's remote North East region. We visit gentle villages, a riverine island with Hindu monasteries, and Assam tea plantations as we cruise upstream in style. We do the organising so that you can relax and enjoy the thrills and secrets at India's heart. |
